iStay Hotel Monterrey Histórico

The location is great, but the property is worn down, even setting aside the bedbugs. I counted 10 just on the headboard. I told the property, and they canceled my booking and said I’d get a refund, but I never did. Be careful, there are lots of bedbugs 😭. The worker told me I could receive a refund, but it never came.

The pool was awesome, though you have to reserve a time to use it. I also really liked that the hotel followed its Covid rules. The restaurant serves delicious food, and most of the reception staff speak English and are very helpful. I stayed for a week and was happy with the service and the location. I only wish I’d had a room on an upper floor for the mountain view. It felt worth the money, and I’d recommend it.

Skip this place. The hotel is old and in bad shape: the water wasn’t hot, the air conditioning didn’t work right, the sheets smelled dirty, and there was a bathroom leak they tried to blame on us. You can’t visit other floors, either. My family member was on the third floor, so she had to come down to the lobby every time I wanted to go up to her room. Ridiculous.

The one upside is how much food is right nearby, and the sidewalk shops give you something to look at. Otherwise, this wasn’t a good hotel. The area is very busy with pedestrians, our room had stained carpet and a bathroom light that went out, and they gave us only two towels for four guests. The elevator was also always acting up.
