Hotel Misión Monterrey Centro Histórico

I came back on Monday to follow up on the refund, and the manager took my bank account details so they could deposit it. Days later, I'm still waiting for my money. The night I arrived, I needed somewhere to stay after coming in for a funeral, so I booked one night at the last minute. The room clearly hadn't been cleaned: there was hair on the mattress and covers, and the walls were dirty. One elevator was broken, with no sign posted, and the buttons for the 9th floor were taped over. I went downstairs right away to check out and ask for a refund, but there was no manager on duty. They wanted to write down my credit card information and said the manager would handle the refund on Monday. Why couldn't they just reverse the charge then and there? Don't stay here. Even if you're desperate, it's not worth the money or hassle.

Staff were nice, and the area around the hotel felt livable, though not especially friendly. The rooms were old and dirty, with nails on the floor. I asked a woman to clean them, but she just spread the dirt around with dirty water and a cloth. It was horrifying and said a lot about how the place is cared for. I had to stay two nights and kept questioning the cleanliness of everything, including the dirty tables. Breakfast was cold, too. I wouldn't recommend it by European standards.

The friendly, helpful staff tried to address concerns, and the building has some real historical character. I liked being right in the historic district, close to attractions and landmarks. Still, the hotel's condition was disappointing. Some parts show lovely architecture, while others look worn and poorly maintained. The rooms are spacious but dated and need updating to modern standards. It has potential, but the infrastructure and facilities need work.

The front desk staff were so nice that I thought the stay might be great. Then I got to the room. It smelled awful, and it was obvious the pillows and sheets aren't washed often. I'm not coming back.
