Hotel Del Callejon

They say parking is available, but we either couldn’t use it or it wasn’t there at all. The booking process was just as bad: to make sure they’d honor the reservation, we had to go to a bank and deposit money into their account. No digital transfer and no payment on arrival. The whole thing came with a demeaning attitude. Our room was damp and smelly, and the walls were dirty and worn down. The worst hotel experience I’ve had.

It may be a historical place, but it feels cold and dark, with no soul. The bed and pillow weren’t comfortable, and the paint colors didn’t make the room feel relaxing or welcoming. It needs a lot of love.

For $24 a night through Airbnb, we got a cozy little hacienda style hotel with only about 7 rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cathedral was just a short walk away. Shops and attractions are nearby too.

The rooms were appealing, the beds comfortable, and the showers hot. It was peaceful and quiet, and the stay could have been great. But I couldn’t get Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the bigger problem was our reservation. We’d booked for 3 days and even went back to confirm, yet they tried to make us leave after 2 because they’d booked the room for someone else and forgotten to tell me. I did get to stay the third night, but that was enough for me. I won’t be back.
