Hotel Torrexpress

A great find in Morelia, with fantastic service and affordable prices. For anyone visiting from abroad, the room's power is controlled by the key, so don't expect to charge devices while you're away. Breakfast has a few vegan choices, but tell the staff "sin leche, sin queso." I didn't see any meat. There are plenty of vegan places to eat within walking distance, though they close around 6pm. Hablo un poquito español, pero todo esta bien. The gym is so-so.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The floor in our room was dirty, and the receptionist was extremely rude when I asked for two extra towels. They also use cloro to disinfect your hands, leaving you and your kids with that smell for hours. Never again.

The breakfast was limited to mini pancakes, yogurt, and fruit. For a regular meal, you had to pay an extra 70 pesos. Our room was roomy enough and comfortable, though a little old. The fire alarm made a loud noise every ten minutes throughout the night. No one answered my call to the front desk, and when I went downstairs there was nobody there to fix it. It wasn't a pleasant visit.

We were glad we chose this hotel for its location near the places we wanted to visit. My wife and I stayed for a week during the Dios de la Muertos festival, and it cost under $100. The maids were friendly and efficient, and management was too.
