Hotel Ayook

Coming in from the busy street, the hotel feels peaceful right away, and the thoughtful room layout has lots of shelves, ledges, and places to hang things. There’s air conditioning and a TV, though we didn’t need the TV in February. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful, which is why I’m already looking forward to another visit. This was my second stay, and I’ll come back. Breakfast is fantastic, with a choice of two traditional Oaxacan dishes or yogurt and granola. The café de Olla is a lovely way to start the morning. We ate outside our room some days and on the second-floor terrace when our group gathered. In the afternoons, we liked relaxing in the rooftop hammocks.

The staff made me feel at home, shared recommendations, and helped arrange transportation. As a solo traveler, I also found the location handy for exploring Oaxaca. My first-floor room was quiet, with plenty of shelf space and a very comfortable bed. The hotel’s design and decor are beautiful, and the breakfast included with the room was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to come back soon.

It’s only about a five-minute walk to the main streets of centro, and the route felt safe, with busy traffic and open food restaurants along the way. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lots of attention to detail, cosy rooms, and very helpful staff. Breakfast was great, with different choices each day. It’s very well priced, too. I’d definitely stay again.

The rooms are compact, but the design makes good use of the space and there’s plenty of storage. It’s an easy walk to the centro, while still being far enough away to stay quiet. The hotel is adults only, which I appreciated, even though I like kids. And the breakfasts! They were delicious, and the staff were so kind and helpful about making our stay memorable. A friend had warned us off hotel food, then saw the photos of what we had at Ayook for breakfast and changed her mind. Such a great place to stay. Book it, you won’t regret it!
