Casa Mava’s family ownership gives it a warm, personal feel that larger hotels don’t have. The staff clearly care about guests and deserve recognition for how well they run and maintain the property. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, friendly, available, and helpful with whatever we needed. Our spotless, well-kept room had a private pool, which was such a treat, and it was cleaned every day. The housekeeping team kept it exceptionally clean throughout our stay, and we appreciated their attention to detail. It’s easy to explore on foot, with La Punta and Playa Zicatela within walking distance and the beach very close. There are also plenty of good food and drink options nearby. We had a wonderful experience and would absolutely stay at Casa Mava again if we return to Puerto Escondido.

For two weeks, my boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Mava, one of the best hotels we’ve ever experienced. It’s beautiful, very clean, and full of thoughtful details, yet peaceful even with everything nearby. Luis and his father were amazing hosts, so friendly and helpful that they made us feel like family. Around New Years, they left us a bottle of sparkling wine with a sweet little note. They also shared lots of great contacts and recommendations for scooter rentals, activities, and restaurants. Free yoga classes are offered on Fridays too, and Kiki was a great instructor. The whole hotel staff were lovely and fantastic to deal with. If you make it to Puerto Escondido, this is the place to stay. We’d give it a thousand stars if we could, 100000000…/10!

Casa Mava is extremely well placed, just a stone’s throw from the beach, which was by far the quietest in the bay. It’s also near the livelier parts of town, so you can choose a calmer evening away from the noise. The hotel is impeccably maintained, with a relaxed, comfortable pool and spacious rooms that are well decorated and comfortable. Luis and the team were lovely and welcoming, with thoughtful touches like foldable deck chairs for the beach and lists of contacts and recommendations. We had a delightful stay. Many thanks for having us, and we look forward to coming back!

The room was huge, spread over 2 floors, and both comfortable and spotless. There’s a nice pool on the rooftop, and the beach is just 1 block away. Getting to either Zicatela or La Punta takes about a 15-minute walk. The area is relatively quiet, though parties and passing vehicles make noise at night. I’m sensitive to noise, so I needed ear plugs. We stayed for 4 nights and really appreciated the hospitality. Manager Luis and the staff were great, available 24h via whatsapp to answer questions and share tips and recommendations. Wonderful hotel, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Fernando and the whole team made our stay feel like a dream. They were always smiling and ready to help, and that thoughtful attitude showed up everywhere, from the boutique design and room names to the interiors. The hotel was immaculate and fairly quiet, even with all the construction in the area. One small moment says a lot: on our third day, a team member came up to the roof terrace and offered us beer. We said yes, and he brought one for each of us. It cost the hotel very little, but the care and effort behind it meant a lot to me. I can see why they have five stars. Well deserved. Thank you, Fernando and team!
