Holiday Inn Express Oaxaca-Centro Historico by IHG

Filipe was great at helping us work out the local transport to the sights. He told us which corner to go to for buses to Tule, Monte Alban, and other places, so we felt in good hands and sightseeing was easy. The staff were all helpful, and Filipe speaks excellent English. The breakfast buffet had fresh fruit, vegetables, refried beans, and plenty more, enough to keep us going until a late lunch. We slept well in the comfortable beds and liked the ambience. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub because both were too cold, but we hadn’t asked for them to be heated, and we were busy seeing the sights anyway. It was a wonderful holiday, and we’ll stay here again next year.

The beds were really comfortable, and everyone at the hotel was incredibly friendly. When I had a problem with my room, Nicolas helped me so much. The breakfast staff were also very accommodating about my allergies. Wonderful hotel and amazing service.

I appreciated the comfortable bed, traditional sink, and coat hangers, which made it easy to wash clothes. The temperature control worked well, and there was a simple TV, coffeemaker, phone, bottled water, and blackout curtains. Housekeeping, kitchen, and reception all helped make my work trip a great week, and the gentleman who repaired my suitcase handle deserves a special mention. Good, reasonably priced hotels are getting harder to find when traveling internationally, so the high ratings made sense to me. A nearby nightclub was very loud one night. I’d also have liked window screens and flooring that could be washed between guests instead of carpet. I was concerned by how the airport taxi was handled. The hotel said the taxis they called took cards, and the driver confirmed it when I checked. Halfway to the airport, though, he had to stop and wait for another driver to come swipe my card. That driver wanted to add a 20% commission, which I refused. I still got to the airport on time, but that shouldn’t happen when you’re relying on drivers selected by the hotel.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times, and it’s been a great experience each visit. The breakfast ladies are so nice, and the parking guys are friendly and helpful. The rooms could use some remodeling soon. Thanks, team, you do a great job!
