Hotel Casa de la Tía Tere

Breakfast was good, and the upper terrace looks out toward the mountains. We had what I think was the hotel's smallest room, but it was clean, and the staff were helpful and courteous. The hotel is quiet and well located for walking to Mercado de Merced, the local market, and Jalatlatco, with its street art, coffee shops, and restaurants. The Zócalo is about a 20-25 minute walk away.

The bed was pretty hard, the shower pressure was weak, and our room felt dark unless we opened the shades and shuttered doors. Still, we enjoyed the stay and would come back. The common areas are pretty, especially the heated pool and garden, and everything was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast tasted good, and there was an interesting mix of guests who return for longer stays. The staff were kind and helpful.

The rooftop breakfast was a treat, with different choices like eggs in green sauce, avocado egg toast, and pancakes. The location is fantastic, and the staff were genuinely welcoming and lovely. Our room, though, was so tiny we could barely open our luggage. There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom, and the water took ages to warm up. It worked for around two nights, but we didn't find it very comfortable. Our friends got a better room.

Our room was a bit of a walk, but it was right beside the pool, with plenty of seats and loungers, so who cares? The courtyard and breakfast mirador are beautiful, and the staff were very helpful. Beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, and it stayed quiet with the windows shut.
