Marialicia Suites

Dulce and Javier made our week at MariaLicia Suites for Dia de Los Muertos feel special. They were caring, delightful hosts, and Dulce even made an incredible Offrenda where guests could leave photos of loved ones. Breakfast was delicious each day, with fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, bread, and eggs made to order. Noe and Oscar gave us such attentive service. The hotel is five minutes from the city center, yet tucked away enough to stay peaceful and quiet. I wouldn't choose anywhere else if I return to Oaxaca. The shared spaces have a spa-like feel, and each of the 10 rooms has a small private sitting area by the entrance. Our room was spacious and spotless, with bathrobes, a blowdryer, toiletry kits, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. They left fresh filtered water daily, and there were snacks and drinks available to buy, including soda, juice, bottled water, mezcal, wine, and other snacks. The kitchen had a small stove, fridge, and microwave.

We spent four nights here on our Oaxaca vacation, and it made an ideal home base for our family. The Family Suite worked perfectly for two parents and two adult sons, with two bedrooms and three beds. Each room had its own AC/heating unit, and they worked well. The property was extremely clean, the service excellent, and Dulce, who manages the hotel, was very friendly and helpful. Each suite is its own freestanding unit inside the hotel, which gave us space while keeping things quiet and peaceful. It's inside a city block, about a 15-minute walk from the center of Centro. I never felt unsafe during our trip. The other staff were helpful too, though their English was more limited. They were patient with our basic Spanish and Google Translate.

Noe was always nearby and ready to help, and Dulce, the manager, welcomed us with so much warmth that we knew right away we'd feel at home at Marialicia suites. She was friendly, full of Oaxaca knowledge, and generous with advice and recommendations. Their care turned a comfortable stay into a really enjoyable one. We loved the location. Our suite was spacious, well equipped, beautifully decorated, and well maintained. The rooms and guest areas were lovely, and the staff were so helpful. Great service and a wonderful manager, we couldn't have found a better place.

Dulce, the English-speaking manager, treated us like family and helped us with everything from restaurants, taxis, walking routes, and tourist sites to changing our airline tickets. When we had a medical issue, she got us to the right doctors and took extraordinary care of us. We would've been lost without her. The hotel is clean, stylish, and quiet, with excellent service, about a 10-minute walk from the Zocalo. The other staff were warm and friendly, but spoke only Spanish. My one criticism is that the hotel could use more multilingual staff, since Dulce can't work seven days a week. I'll work on my language skills before returning to Oaxaca, and I do plan to stay at Marialicia Suites Hotel again.
