Hotel Boutique Parador San Miguel

The staff were the highlight, very welcoming and helpful, and they did everything to assist and explain. I also liked the building, location, and comfortable rooms. A few quirks, though. The restaurant isn't part of the hotel, so you can't charge meals to your room. Water pressure in the shower was very weak, but when I mentioned it, they removed a valve that was intentionally saving water. The elevator screeches as it passes my second-floor room, which is right in front of it. Also, rooms at the far end, 104, 105, 204, 205, 304, and 305, share a venting space that carries and amplifies voices and noises between them. Quite disturbing.

The location is hard to beat, just a short walk from most attractions, and this felt like one of the best values in the historic center. I spent four nights here and loved it. I stayed at a much pricier place in Oaxaca on my last night as a "special treat," but this hotel was better and much quieter. I had worried about noise beforehand, but the rooms are set back from the street, so it wasn't an issue. The birds start early, which suited me since I'm an early riser too, and nights were peaceful. I ate at the restaurant several times. The food was fantastic, and the service was great every time.

Parador San Miguel is right in Downtown Oaxaca, handy for getting to bars, restaurants, and local shops. Check-in was quick, and we were given a complimentary welcome bottle of wine. The room was spotless and nicely equipped when we arrived. Every day, a lovely smell wafts from the hotel's restaurant just inside the entrance. Highly recommend it.

A lovely colonial building close to the main plaza, with a comfortable bed and spotless rooms. The inner courtyard and third-floor terrace are beautiful, and there's a good restaurant on site. The staff were gracious and helpful. Excellent in every way, look no further.
