Real del Fortín

The staff are very friendly, and the service is excellent. The location is handy, about 10 minutes from both the city center and the road out of Oaxaca for trips to Mitla, Hierve el Agua, and elsewhere. The price seems reasonable and about average for Oaxaca, where I think many hotels charge a lot for what they offer. I’d return and recommend it. The rooms are basic, with only local TV channels and no cable. The beds are clean and comfortable, but traffic noise from the highway is the main downside.

We’ve been comfortable here for the past few months and have enjoyed Oaxaca. It’s been just what we needed, whether renting by the month, week, or day. The owner is friendly and attentive, and he and his staff are available when we have questions or requests. It’s close to the center, has a pool, working internet, and reliable water, which is a real issue in Oaxaca. The facilities feel secure, and they clean weekly.

The rooms are comfortable, though the mattresses are only average. There’s a pool, hot and cold water, cable TV, and room service. Service was very good, and it’s a great hotel about five minutes by car from downtown Oaxaca.

The place is old and badly run down, and the bathroom smelled awful. Its door also got stuck. For what they charge, there are hotels in much better condition. I wouldn’t recommend this one.
