La Concha Beach Hotel & Club

The lack of an elevator is a real problem if you have mobility issues, so this may not be the right place for you. La Concha itself is an old, iconic spot with a magnificent ocean view and a great stretch of beach. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a great view, but it needs upkeep: the drawers were misaligned and broken, there were scuff marks everywhere, the bathroom fixtures were rusty, and the marked-up door wouldn't lock and needs replacing. The towels were nearly rags and should be replaced. The restaurant outside served good food, and the front desk and security staff were attentive and tried to help with extra requests.

A real GEM, with mermaid sculptures and other great art all around. We loved lounging on the beanbag chairs in the sand, away from the main town crowds. There was a dock for arriving by boat, a great pool for lap swimming, and you can swim from the beach at high tide. Poolside service was available, too. Dining on the deck over the water was fabulous, and the waterfront restaurant served excellent food. For the money, this is hard to beat. The only letdown was the rooms: the bathrooms need redoing and the rooms need an upgrade. Everything else was five-star.

My two little girls were so disappointed. We called and were told we could get day passes to use the pool, so we took a 30-minute cab ride here. The security guard at the entrance was rude, wouldn't let us in or let us speak to the front desk, then told us to leave the property and stand by the roadside with the kids. It was a gross interaction, completely unlike the kindness we've seen all over Mexico. I'd suggest staying away.

La Concha has a rustic feel that took me back to traveling around Mexico as a kid in the 80s and early 90s. It felt like those days, as if time hasn't changed at concha 🐚. It's a decent place to get some rest, though we barely spent any time at the hotel.
