Everyone else was helping themselves to coffee, but I was told mine would cost 40 pesos. The breakfast menu had clearly marked coffee as “FREE,” so being asked to pay extra was frustrating and misleading. I’d gone to the hotel restaurant for breakfast.

The reception staff spoke no English, despite my being told they were bilingual, so we had to rely on Google Translate. At 2 am, I even called my male cousins, who were staying around the corner, to help me get my money back. The room itself had dirty sheets, bugs on the ceiling, and bathrooms that barely worked and didn’t seem clean. There are three to five remotes for the AC, fan, TV, and something else I didn’t bother to figure out. The locks are easy to open without a key and don’t work properly. There’s no elevator, and the “pool” seems to be there just for show. Don’t be tempted by the low price. I’d spend the extra $50 a night somewhere else. Please don’t stay here.

The receptionist were great, and our room for six was spacious, with a stove, microwave, and refrigerator. I could have lived with buying my own blankets because none were provided, the weak shower pressure, and towels that came every three days, sometimes stained. But I can’t get past what we believe happened to our money. Over $2,000 dollars was taken from the safe in my room by the cleaning service, and three tenants were robbed that night. We called the police and filed a report. The manager said this had never happened before, but my son found reviews that night from other tenants reporting stolen money. The manager lied to our faces and to the police. The receptionist the next morning said she checked the cameras and saw nobody suspicious near our room, only the cleaning crew. Who else could get into our room and have time to go through our things while we were out most of the day? Stay away from this hotel.

We paid a good price, and the location was fantastic, just a one-minute walk from the commercial avenue and only a couple of minutes from restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, and everything else. The hotel looks a little old, though they’re working to make it more comfortable and appealing. The service was amazing. They looked after us like family, and it made for a very good experience.
