We loved having a stylish place to come back to after exploring. City Centro by Marriott Ciudad de México sits in a beautiful historic building that mixes classic and modern touches, right in the middle of the action. We walked to loads of well-known spots. The Zócalo is only a few blocks away, so the Cathedral and National Palace were easy to visit. There are also some great local coffee shops nearby, and we enjoyed the local roast. Walking around Centro Histórico, we saw ornate old building fronts and busy markets. The rooftop was a favorite. We took photos of the sunset over the skyline, with the historic buildings lighting up around us. It's a lovely place to unwind after a day on your feet. If you're after a central base within walking distance of landmarks, or a good spot for photos, try the rooftop at golden hour. We had a wonderful time exploring.

The location made it easy to walk to popular sights, good restaurants, and plenty of places to explore. The common areas and architecture are beautiful and well maintained, with charming little nooks throughout. Our room was a comfortable size, with a king bed, sofa, sitting area, and some cool details that made the stay more interesting. Joy, I think that was her name, worked the night shift and went above and beyond. Her professionalism, kindness, and knowledge made a real difference. The hotel was a great stay, and I'd recommend it if you're on the fence.

The staff were nice and the place looks pretty, but comfort ended there. We didn't sleep all night, and it ruined the start of our vacation. This is the worst Marriott I've stayed in. Don't book if you want a good night's sleep. Our room was terribly hot and humid, with no windows and no way to get air in. The AC kept shutting off, and we were told there were no other rooms. The bed was hard and the pillows lumpy. The bathroom has no ceiling separating it from the room, so if anyone in your group uses the toilet, the smell spreads through the whole room. The walls are thin, so we heard people coming back drunk at 2am and others rolling suitcases across the floor at 4am to catch flights. The door lock is a hassle, too: you have to press the key, turn the knob, use the handle, then turn the knob again to lock it.

The rooms look nice, but the bathroom divider doesn't reach the ceiling, so there are noise and steam problems. The door lock is a nightmare, too. We came up to the pool around 4 in the afternoon and found it packed with women drinking and posing for photos. The glasses were left around the pool, and it was loud and messy, so we left. We later learned people pay for day access with yellow bands, so lots of pool users aren't hotel guests. Breakfast was one of the worst we've had. We got fruit or juice, scrambled eggs, and ham, all cold. We sent the food back to be heated, and then it was a bit hard. My husband couldn't eat his because there were black bits in the egg. The server was very nice and offered him something else, but he was put off. We stayed for two nights, and I have to agree with an earlier review: it's not the best.

The staff were really nice and the service was great. The building is historic, they told us it used to be a bank and then apartments before becoming a hotel. It's beautiful in daylight when the sun comes through, although the look feels a little too dark at night. We arrived after midnight, and it was hard to know where to go because they lock the main gate after 10pm for safety. The hotel is right in the city center.
