The host and manager were quick to respond, the room was clean, and the building felt safe. They also cleaned the room midweek, which I appreciated. My concern was the condition of the room. The AC remote didn't work properly, the unit was noisy, and its drain dripped into the room and caused mold on the wall. The bathroom paint was bubbling, and there was an exposed electrical box behind the front door. After I reported the problems, they dealt with the mold, but said the other repairs would have to wait until I was away.

I spent about 3 months here after moving from Miami to Playa, and it felt like home. The building is looked after, rooms are clean, the beds are really comfortable, and hot showers are a plus. It's quiet and feels safe to walk around at night. The host and building staff are welcoming and friendly. Mega is only 5 minutes away, and the beach and 5th avenue are walkable. I especially liked having coffee on the top terrace in the morning and watching the sunset. The shared kitchen and TV room were nice places to meet travelers from other countries. Most rooms have a little table for working, and the wifi is strong. Good for a short or long stay, I'd recommend it.

Dogs have been barking since 1:am, and it's now 2:29am. This is the worst barking I've encountered in any place I've stayed in Mexico, and nobody seems to care. If a peaceful night matters to you, don't book here.

For the price, the nice host offers a lot. The room is spacious, with a comfortable bed, a desk that's good for working on a laptop, and plenty of room to hang clothes. The toilet was spotless and the shower pressure was good. The aircon was strong and quiet. I can't think of anything to complain about, and would highly recommend staying here in Playa del Carmen.

We traveled with my husband and kids, and I felt safe in the area. The staff were so friendly, and they gave me helpful tips about places to visit. The common kitchen was always super clean, a 10 from us. Casa Maxa is just a couple of blocks from the beach and 5th Avenue, and Mega Supermarket is very close for shopping. We want to come back already! ❤️
