Devossion By Live Aqua Playa del Carmen All Inclusive - Adults Only

The location was one of my favorite parts of the trip. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and exploring the area was a highlight. Staff were kind and helpful too, from check-in and the bellman to the servers. The AC in the room worked very well. I was less impressed by the room itself. It felt small, dated, and plain, with water marks on the mirror, pitted fixtures, and several long hairs that weren't mine. I had expected aromatherapy and asked for it, but they didn't provide any. I plugged in my own BBW wallflowers. The bed was just okay, and I missed the Molten Brown products I like at LA Cancun. Devossion uses Natura Bisse. Also, the rooms are reached by exterior corridors. The public beach was crowded, though the resort did its best to manage the sargassum. Beach service was the best we'd had in a while, especially Jose, who was great and took care of everything. We ate at the Italian and Asian restaurants, the breakfast buffet, and used room service. The food was good overall, but the buffet had limited choices. Fresh-squeezed OJ was my favorite part. One night room service didn't answer, so we called the front desk, placed the order there, and they brought it up. I'd been to several resorts, including another one during this same vacation, and often stay at Live Aqua Cancun. After seeing only positive reviews when I booked, I expected at least the cleanliness and atmosphere of LA Cancun. I wouldn't stay at this resort again, but I'd happily return to the area.

The Cenote Spa was a highlight for us. We each had a 50-minute massage with different therapists, and both were the best we've had anywhere, even after getting massages around the world. The spa also has places to unwind, with warm-water pools and cold plunges. That cenote warm pool is pure bliss. We usually avoid all-inclusive hotels, but Devossion by Live Aqua changed our minds. Its six dining options each have their own character and serve different cuisines, rather than repeating the same food around the property. The meals were a treat, and the cocktails and mocktails were professionally made. The whole stay felt like a fun mix of luxury, lively energy, and beautiful beachfront views. Service was outstanding, our room was spotless, and the in-room snacks were topped up daily at no extra cost. We also had a great time with the activities, including the entertainment in the on-site speakeasy. We had a breathtaking stay and will be back again and again. Highly recommend!

The swim-up pool was freezing and unheated, so paying extra for that room didn't feel worthwhile. Next time, we'd book a different room. Still, we would absolutely return. The staff made our stay feel like a five-star experience: everyone was welcoming, attentive, and friendly. Itzel, Alberto, Brenda at the front desk, Mario, and Oswaldo were especially wonderful. I hope management appreciates the team and takes good care of them. Our room was spacious and clean, the grounds were beautifully maintained, and the food was very good. We especially enjoyed dinner at The Grill, Florella, and Flor de Sal. My husband and I had a wonderful stay.

The hotel staff and service were fantastic, and we loved how easy it was to explore beyond the resort. We booked a cenote tour through the hotel, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. The main problem was noise. For the first couple of days we could hear our neighbors through the walls. When a new group arrived for the weekend, they were very drunk and loud, as they're entitled to be on holiday, but we could make out every word. We asked to move rooms and the hotel did so. We then had no noise trouble until our last day, when we could clearly hear someone through the bathroom vent above the toilet again. The hotel wasn't full, so I assume we had no neighbors before then. For the price and five-star rating, I'd expect proper soundproofing. That really let the place down for me. It's a beautiful hotel and the staff are super friendly and helpful, but a few things felt unfinished. They also weren't clear about what daily activities were available or when to sign up.
