Iberostar Waves Tucán - All Inclusive

The buffet team made a consistently good impression: they were cheerful, attentive, and polite, and deserve real credit. The food was just okay, neither awful nor especially good. We’ve had better meals elsewhere, but also worse. Our room experience was much less welcome. After housekeeping came through, two women’s sports tops went missing. We raised it with the cleaning staff the next day, and they returned them, saying they’d mistaken them for cleaning rags. Other guests warned us against taking the matter to local management because they thought it could make the rest of our stay less pleasant. They suggested using the chain’s official survey and letting future visitors know, so we did both. I’d keep everything in the safe, even clothes if they fit. The surroundings are lovely. The grounds feel like a jungle, with animals wandering about, and the beach is clean and well kept. The upper section by the hotel is rocky, but that’s just the natural shoreline. We stayed four nights at the end of January in a standard room at Iberostar Waves Tucan. It was a memorable visit, though not always for the reasons a brochure might suggest. The place has potential, but that doesn’t make it pleasant to find your clothes gone.

The only letdown for us was the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day entertainment. The performances felt less exciting than we’d hoped for those special days. Otherwise, we had a fantastic family stay at Iberostar Tucan Resort in Playa del Carmen. The traditional design runs throughout the resort and creates a beautiful atmosphere, while the grounds feel peaceful and full of nature. We loved seeing peacocks, monkeys, and other wildlife. Our room was nice and clean, and the beach and pools were outstanding, kept tidy and well maintained for relaxing or playing in the sun. There was a good choice of food at the restaurants, including fresh fruit. It’s a beautiful, calming place with amenities that make it a great fit for families looking for a nature-filled escape.

Frank has been especially friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The whole team has been attentive, and the atmosphere and service have been great so far. We’re here now and really enjoying it. I’d happily recommend this hotel.

The rooms are my one real complaint. They feel dated, with stucco finishes, and there aren’t drawers for putting clothes away. Housekeeping, though, is top notch. We’d head to a gym class and come back to a clean room. There’s lots of wildlife roaming the grounds, including peacocks, coatis, iguanas, and agoutis, plus flamingos, turtles, and monkeys. The resort is very environmentally friendly. Sergio and Omar’s fitness classes are world-class, and Julio remembered us and had a table ready with our drinks. We had a great experience overall.
