La Galeria by Bunik

The staff were great, and I appreciated how clean this small hotel was. I paid 105 euros for three nights, so it’s good value. You won’t get much of a view at the intersection of Ave 30 and Ave 20, but local shops and restaurants are easy to reach. One thing to keep in mind if you have a lot of heavy luggage: the three-floor hotel has no elevator.

It’s decent for the price if you’re mostly out exploring. You can walk quickly to 5th Avenue or the beach, but the mattress is uncomfortably hard. I’d skip the “breakfast” unless white bread and deli meat are what you want.

The big bed and good WiFi were nice, and the room had a decent amount of space and the basics. There’s a large sliding door facing the street, so expect noise: the hotel sits on the corner of two major streets. Still, it’s close to lots of restaurants and things to see, and the beach is about a 10-minute walk away. ADO Alterna bus station is nearby. The rooftop pool area looked nice, but the pool was too dirty to use. Breakfast costs 10USD$, which seemed exaggerated, so we skipped it. The welcome staff felt cold and weren’t especially friendly. Good value overall.

The staff were really nice and respectful, and there’s amazing food just a minute away. Try Nativos for natural juices and La Ceiba for breakfast. The hotel is beautiful, especially the rooftop pool. I’ll definitely come back.
