Selva y Mar Apart Hotel - 5Th Ave by BFH

It was okay for a quick stop, but getting settled was a struggle after a long day at the beach and some drinks, especially since my luggage was elsewhere. The TV didn’t work, and it was hard to find the room because there was no warning that it was separate from the main location. My Spanish wasn’t good enough, so communication broke down, but that information should have been on the booking. They could have sent it sooner on WhatsApp. The fridge was very loud, and I could hear noise from the rooms above. Some compensation would have made me feel more satisfied.

The studio was clean, with a comfortable bed, an open kitchen, counter seating, and a little table to work at. I liked the courtyard plants and the rooftop area. It’s near the edge of the tourist and commercial zone, so nights are fairly quiet. During the day, though, you can hear nearby construction.

The rooms sit back from the street, around a little garden atrium, and the place feels quaint and cozy. You’ll need to pick up the keys at Casa Tikul down the street, where the staff are super friendly. The location is great, close to the beach and 5th Avenue but far enough away to avoid much of the noise. Water pressure and hot water were pretty good, and there’s Netflix. Since the rooms have connecting windows, you can hear people in adjoining rooms and upstairs. There were some ants, which makes sense in a garden, so keep things clean. You may have to ask for housekeeping, and the weekday cleaner is quite nice.

Clean, safe and comfortable for the price. It had everything I needed for a simple stay.
