Hotel Alhaja Puebla Centro Histórico

The rooms are very clean and reasonably comfortable, though a little small and poorly lit. It's in an excellent central Puebla location. Breakfast is basic, nothing special.

It's close to the zocalo. If you have time, take a bus ride around de city. It's cheaper, about 400 pesos for a 6 hours ride that visits different places.

The shower and air conditioner were both top notch, and the place was spotlessly clean. The staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly. But that's where the good parts end. I was staying here as part of a G-Adventures tour. Noise came straight in from the corridor because the doors were warped, with a huge gap at both the top and bottom. The rooms aren't soundproof, and traffic or the chiming clock behind the hotel might wake you every 15 minutes. I didn't know mattresses could be this hard. I also noticed that the hotel didn't seem to have a working fire alarm system. Detectors were missing from every room our party used, and the devices in the corridor were there but not functional. That's really not good enough.

The rooms are okay and the hotel is in a very good location. Service is poor.
