Wyndham Puebla Angelopolis

Our room was pretty spartan, with no bedside lamps, though the hotel itself was nice. The staff were friendly, but the laundry service was very expensive.

The price seemed too good to be true at $77.50 (USD), and the next morning my husband and I were both in a lot of back pain. The mattress was as hard as a carpet rug without padding underneath. I called to ask if they had better mattresses, but was told no. We had four more nights of hell ahead of us because I'd booked a five-night stay. When I first walked into the hotel, it looked clean and up to date, and the people were very nice to talk to.

The suite was incredible, with an amazing view and a great room and bathroom. Our bellman was the kindest and most helpful person we met. He carried our luggage down and spoke English, which was a tremendous bonus. Outside the room and the bellman, I would have given this a one-star review. The WiFi was tremendously unstable, and even watching TV meant dealing with lots of lag and buffering. I’m glad I didn’t need to work until after leaving the hotel. The receptionist didn't seem helpful. They advertise a pool and gym, but the pool isn't operational because the heating needs fixing, even though it's turned on and running. They should take it off the website until guests can actually use it. We were also told deliveries couldn't be brought to our room, so we had to go all the way down to pick them up. In my other hotel stays, food can usually be left with the lobby receptionist, who calls or sends someone up. At the Wyndham, you have to stay alert and go collect your own food or other deliveries instead of doing anything else. When we arrived, we were confused to find ourselves on the very low PB level, then had to take the elevator up to the lobby to check in.

The room was nice, though the hotel's location struck me as odd.
