We stayed in an AirBnB that shared the property, rather than in the hotel itself, and felt lucky to have access to the pool, restaurant, and other amenities. It's a beautiful, peaceful place. Most guests spoke Spanish and kept to themselves. Since it's at the top of a hill, expect plenty of uphill and downhill walking, enough to work off all those tortillas. 😉 It was the quiet off-season near the end of January, with not many guests. The hotel is at the top of the hill in the photo.

From the grounds to the birds, the hotel was beautiful and peaceful. The pool stayed sunny all day and was clean, and the staff were very helpful. Our room had a breathtaking sea view, a working TV, conveniently placed outlets, a fridge, and lovely cold AC. The beach and supermarket are a short walk away. I'd absolutely recommend it if you're staying in Puerto Escondido.

We're just wrapping up a three-week stay at Hotel Barlovento and loved it. The room was just right for what we needed, and it's an ideal location with everything an easy walk away. The team made a huge difference: friendly, kind, and welcoming, and they take excellent care of the property. We'd recommend it and would very much return.

My girlfriend, my parents, and I arrived in the off-season, and the staff looked after us impeccably. They brought room service and served us by the pool, and were very attentive to what we needed. We were all sick, and they even went to the pharmacy to buy medication for us. Puerto Escondido was really hot during those days, so the pool was very warm, almost too warm. The AC in our room worked fine.
