Bungalows Zicatela

I loved the hotel and its location, but I lost two nights of sleep because a bar directly across the street played incredibly loud music from about 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. The sound was so intense our room actually shook. We spoke with hotel staff both evenings, but they never resolved it. If you want a quiet, relaxing stay, this probably isn’t the place. For a lively party atmosphere, it could work well.

I booked here because the power was out at the sister property in Zipolite. Everything seemed fine until checkout. While at the pool, I asked for a towel and showed my hotel ID bracelet, but the staff member said I needed my ID, which was in the rental car. I was only 10 meters away from him. He gave me attitude instead of a towel, so I left quietly and wrote this review from across the street. Don’t stay here if you want to sleep at night. The nightclubs go until 3:45 a.m., and the bass carries through the whole hotel. The Zipolite property is much friendlier. Sr. Marcos and the night bellman were the only standout employees. Thanks, Marcos. Mr. Gordo, who refused me the towel, no thanks to you, sir.

The staff are great, especially Brisa and William, and the pools are nice, particularly at night. The rooms could use more than one towel hook and some folding luggage stands. The problem is the beach bars: loud, bass-heavy music goes on until 2 or 3 in the morning and comes right through the double windows.

The location was great and the food was amazing, but the service really stood out. I highly recommend taking the tours with tours jimmy, it was the best experience. I’ll definitely come back.
