Hotel Arcoiris

We checked out and moved to another hotel the next day. The nightclubs across the street played pounding music until 3:30 a.m., and earplugs barely helped me sleep. My travel companion is deaf and uses hearing aids, but the music still woke her. They do warn you at check-in, though I couldn’t believe how loud it was. The location is great, but the basic room wasn’t very clean: there were cobwebs in the closet and mold in the shower, and it had no safe or coffee maker.

The room had a nice view, but getting to the third floor meant climbing a lot of outdoor steps. There’s no elevator, and the amenities are very old. No TV in the room either. At night, noise from the popular bar right across the street went on until 3 a.m.

It’s a straightforward beach hotel, with a clean pool, loungers, hammocks, and air conditioning. Security is great, and being right on the beach is what I want from a place like this. I’d stay here again if I come back.

The club nearby is booming, and luckily I travel with earplugs. When I got to the room, I found insects and a brown substance on the windowsill that looked like it might be termite dust. I’d asked whether I could switch from two double beds to one bed, but was told all rooms have two beds, so there was no change available. I speak fluent Spanish, so there wasn’t a misunderstanding. I was honestly shocked after looking forward to the stay based on the photos. I’ve stayed all over the world and am not squeamish. If you want somewhere to relax, avoid this place.
