The owners offer discounted quad bikes, and I rode one to Playa Manzanillo. It's safer for swimming than Playa Escondido because of the strong undertow there. After two weeks in the quieter rhythms of Zipolite, I found Manzanillo overcrowded, though releasing a baby turtle at Playa Bacocho farther up the coast was a moving experience. A caution: driving a quad in Mexico, especially on the highway, isn't for everyone. It should only be done sober and by confident, defensive drivers. The property is easy to find, but feels private, calm, and safe, and it's tucked far enough from the lively beachfront streets to be genuinely quiet. A friend stayed at the beautiful Hotel Humano, but found it much noisier and nearly twice the price. My room at JILOO was spacious and quiet, with a very comfortable bed and excellent linens. I liked the contrast between the raw brutalist concrete and warm sliding wooden screens. The landscaped pool courtyard was a lovely refuge from the heat and a great place to linger in the sun. The hosts made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived, and that care continued throughout my stay. Their local guide has thoughtful nearby food and drink recommendations. I told the owners how much I loved the property, and I meant it: I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Puerto Escondido.

After our first hotel canceled at the last minute because of overbooking, finding Hotel Jiloo felt special. It's a peaceful little oasis, a lovely boutique hotel, and somewhere I'd happily return to. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the new hotel is beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful touches. I especially liked the Nespresso machine and great coffee in the room, plus the comfortable beds and super soft organic cotton sheets. They greeted us with a cute handmade local Mexican gift. We made plenty of use of the pool, the comfy tanning chairs, and the sunscreen they provide. Each room also has a balcony with lounge chairs and a hammock. The owner put together a really useful booklet of restaurant, brunch, coffee, and beach recommendations, based on 15 years living here.

Owners Gaëlle and Sergio were welcoming and helpful, with suggestions for places to go and things to do, plus a list of restaurants. Justine and the cleaning crew were very nice, too. This eight-room boutique hotel has modern architecture, spacious rooms, and a cozy, tranquil feel as soon as you arrive. It's within walking distance of La Punta Zicatela beach, shops, places to eat, and music bars. Jilöo petite maison was a perfect getaway for our recent Puerto Escondido visit. We'll definitely stay here again next time.

A short walk gets you to the beach and main streets, with plenty of shops and restaurants. The owners and staff were kind, helpful, and very communicative, and the hospitality was stellar. The property and rooms are thoughtfully designed and spacious, making for a really relaxing, peaceful trip. This is my favorite place I've stayed in Puerto Escondido. I'd highly recommend Jiloo for a PXM getaway!

Our host was always helpful and very friendly. The spacious rooms had everything we could need, and the new boutique hotel was built with taste and attention to detail. Simply a great place to stay, 100% recommended.
