Hotel Villas Xaiba

The location near downtown Rinconada is good and the outside looks nice, but our suite was filthy: stains in the toilet, grime on the sink and elsewhere, and old, dingy furniture. The place seemed to have had no investment in over a decade. We couldn’t get a hot shower, the bathroom light flickered, and downstairs was like a sauna, with no AC and one broken fan. The suite was on two levels with a tiny spiral staircase, so taking luggage upstairs was impossible. Google calls this a four-star property, but it felt nowhere near that, perhaps it was 15 years ago. Unless all you care about is a pool and being near Rinconada, don’t stay if dirty rooms are a problem for you.

The entrance road is short and looks a bit rough, but the stay was worth it. My upstairs suite was large, with a spacious kitchen and living room below, and the pool was right outside the back door. Staff couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful, and the location suited my daily trips.

The pool area is a nice place to relax, and Hector was helpful with any information we needed. Check-in times were flexible. Shops and the restaurants along Benito Juarez blvd are a short walk away, and playa carizalillo is about ten minutes on foot. The beds are the one thing I’d absolutely recommend updating. They need to be softer.

I’ve had lovely stays at Villas Xaiba, and the staff are friendly and the place is always clean. I lived there for a few months, which worked well for a longer stay, provided you’re not planning much cooking in the kitchen. There are plenty of restaurants just a short walk away anyway.
