Punta Arena Surf Suites

This was our second booking with her, and I won’t stay here again. The first time, there was a booking problem and another guest had the final night too. They had already paid, but still had to find somewhere else to stay. For the second booking, we arranged it directly with the owner and paid in advance. A few days later she said the daily rate was wrong and needed to go up. We agreed to the new price, but then she came back and said it had to increase again. That’s a serious lack of professionalism.

We booked the apartment on booking.com for a week and waited all day until the 3pm check-in, as the owner had agreed to meet us. When we arrived, we were told there was a booking problem and that we had to cancel. The cleaning lady said someone was already inside the apartment we’d reserved. It felt really shady, but we insisted they cancel it since the mistake was theirs. Other reviews describe similar things, so I’d avoid this place if you need somewhere to sleep. We went back to puerto Escondido instead. The noise in this area until 2am, people fighting, and everyone trying to scam you made it unpleasant.

They said they couldn’t see our Booking reservation for 7 days and 4 people, which cost 10'000 MXN, and wanted us to cancel it. That would have meant losing the full amount. They then suggested we book directly for 2'600 MXN a night, well above the standard Booking price, before finally saying there was no room available. This hotel seems dishonest and unscrupulous. DON'T GO!

The locally shaped surfboards I rented here were in good condition, and there’s a choice of long boards, fun boards, and short boards. No foam tops. The owner was knowledgeable and very nice.
