Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa - Adults Only - All Inclusive

The food was great, the service was impeccable all week, and there’s definitely a party atmosphere. Pablo/Uriel at the Xcelerate pool were fantastic. We wanted that high energy pool scene, and this resort delivered. If you’re after somewhere quiet, don’t come here. We stayed in an Xhale swim-up close to the terrace where nightly activities usually run from around 9 to 11pm. We’re not night owls and went to bed around 10, but we could still hear plenty of noise in the room. There are rooms directly above the terrace, and I can only imagine how loud it was for those guests. When we return, we’ll ask for a room away from that side.

The biggest issue for our group was how slippery the walking surfaces were. Eight of the ten people in our group slipped and fell during the stay. The tile and concrete were smooth, uneven and often wet, with sharp edges where the floor dropped off. We also saw other guests fall, so be prepared for that. The excursions didn’t match how they were presented in the brochures, and there seemed to be a sales push or catch attached to every off-resort event. We came with friends and enjoyed ourselves, but the resort didn’t fully meet our expectations. It’s gorgeous, with lovely pools and amazing beaches. The rooms are comfortable and have what you’d expect, and the shower was incredible. Entertainment was great, the staff were friendly, and the place was extremely clean. Housekeeping deserves an A+. Other service seemed good, though food service was just OK. Food itself was a 6 out of 10: some good, some bad. I didn’t know lasagna could be that disgusting. Room service took two hours to deliver when the estimate was 30 minutes, the app didn’t work well, and the elevator stopped working while we were on the fourth floor. It was fixed after a day. We had a good time, but next time we visit Cancun, I’d try another resort.

The rooms are top notch, the service is excellent and the food was very good. Still, be cautious with the buffet, since a few people got sick. The beach is public, small and underwhelming. You can’t swim far out because boats and jet skis make it unsafe. The hotel will try to upsell you to Xhale club. I didn’t think it was worth it for just the rooftop pool and not much else. If you book a laguna view room in a package holiday, though, upgrading to Xhale club at the resort can get you an ocean view room for much less than booking it in advance. The hotel zone is heavily patrolled by police and feels very safe for walking day or night. Downtown Cancun seemed safe during the day and pretty safe at night, but I wouldn’t consider it safe for tourists outside downtown. I have swarthy skin and could pass for a local, so I went everywhere without trouble by speaking only Spanish and not dressing like a tourist. I loved Cancun and will be back. Breathless was great, though very expensive. I might choose a cheaper resort next time, but I had a great time there.

We came for a friend’s special birthday party, and this place was exactly what our group needed. The swim-out room was awesome, the food was great, and there was a good range of options: buffet, sit-down restaurants, and food by the beach and pool. The location is convenient, just a short drive from the airport. They do a good job clearing seaweed from the shore so you can enjoy the beach. A big thank you to all the staff, from check-in and room service to the waiters and security. Everyone was friendly and attentive, and they made the experience worth it. I’ll definitely visit again!
