Corales Suites

Our family had a spacious room with a nice seating area, and a sliding door between the living room and kitchen let in the ocean breeze. The bedrooms had cold AC, the pool was cute and mostly shaded, and the hotel was quiet, without loud traffic or clubs nearby. There’s one building between the hotel and the beach, but you can see the ocean from some balconies and reach the beach easily. Most restaurants are three or four blocks away. The beds were among the most uncomfortable I’ve slept on. We also didn’t get enough towels, pillows, or blankets, and the reception desk closes at 5, so we couldn’t get more. We loved Puerto Morelos and will return, but will probably try another hotel for better value.

It’s a decent place in a great location, with a clean pool. Rooms have a microwave, a stove and oven, a full-size fridge with freezer, and a coffee maker, plus a safe in the bedroom. The beds are pretty hard, and there were only two pillows. Showers aren’t great, but they’re manageable.

The room was filthy. There were stains on the sheets, the window covering, and even the walls. The shower was worse: water wouldn’t drain, so you stood in it, and the showerhead sprayed everywhere except down. If all you need is a bed and you don’t care about anything else, this might suit you. Also expect to leave a deposit for anything you need, like beach towels, an iron, or a hair dryer.

The pool always had a film on it, the bath towels looked dirty, and the receptionist made me feel like I was bothering her. They charge extra for beach or pool towels, and there was also a fee for an iron or hair dryer, neither of which was in the room. The website photos must be from when the place first opened. The balconies and patios looked awful and filthy.
