The room was clean, the beds were firm and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The rate was cheap, just $35 US a night, but we booked three nights for two people and left after two. We didn't like the place, and no refund was offered. Only one towel was supplied. When we asked for another, they turned around a sign saying extra towels cost $5 US each. There was no hot water or pressure, and it took 30 minutes for the toilet to refill. The wet shower floor tiles were very slippery, and the bathroom had no vanity or shelf. Only one side of the kitchen sink worked. There was no coffee maker or any dishes. The kitchenette had a range hood but no cooktop, just a capped gas line sticking out of the counter. There was no view, just stray dogs and a broken-down car across the street.

For 700 pesos, or $35 USD on a weekday in Dec. 2020, we got a spacious two-bedroom corner room facing both streets. Check-in was quick, and although there was no parking, they had a camera pointed at the sidewalk where we parked. The clean rooms were roomy and had cotton sheets. Amenities included a fridge, microwave, dish sink, safe, TV with Netflix and YouTube, internet, split AC, and a ceiling fan. The water got warm but never hot. The hotel was a nice choice if you have a car, though the beach is a bit far. I'd give it four stars, mainly because of the location and the hot water that never came.

There's a good budget hotel in the heart of the village on the Colonia side. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and taco spots are all around. For breakfast, try the cochinita pepil tacos outside the Oxo.
