Secrets Riviera Cancún All Preferred - Adults Only - All inclusive

The beaches were kept very well during our stay, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with cold towels and champagne, and everyone seemed caring and ready to help. At check-in, Elian and Reuben made the process smooth, and check-out was easy too. Mario and Daniel looked after us at the pool every day, checking in to make sure we had what we needed. The pool team always served us with a friendly smile. Our preferred club bartender was so kind and remembered us whenever we walked by. Jose at rosewater was a favorite server, and Luis kept us laughing and entertained every day, making us feel right at home. We can’t say enough good things about how we were treated. We can’t wait to visit a secrets again, and will definitely be back.

One thing that disappointed us was not being able to swim in the ocean. Still, there was plenty to enjoy on the resort. We loved the pool, and our besties Mario and Daniel were so kind. Julio and Gibran were amazing servers and always made sure we had a drink. Luis from the entertainment crew was unreal. We looked forward to daily trivia and being summoned for “ice cream,” which turned out to be aerobics and bracelet-making. He was the life of the party. Adrian and his hawk, Novak, were fun to see every day. Adrian knew so much and answered all our questions. We wish they had an Instagram page where we could follow their adventures keeping birds away from the resort. The ocean view was really pretty, and the room was quiet at night. I was glad we stayed on the Secrets side rather than Breathless. It felt calm and tranquil, while Breathless reminded me of early 2000s MTV spring break. Food was good for an all-inclusive. Nighttime activities were fun too: we did paint and sip, the drag show was FABULOUS, and for casino night, get the table with Manuel.

Secrets has a quieter, more mature feel, while Breathless next door is higher energy if you’re after nightlife. Staying at Secrets gives you a 2 for 1, with preferred club amenities here and more lively options next door. We spent a low-key Saturday at the resort after doing the complimentary hydrotherapy that morning. It included time in the sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, and hydropool, and we felt relaxed afterward. We had a hibachi reservation that evening, which is needed. On Sunday we had a reserved pool cabana included with our stay, just what we needed before packing for our flight. My partner and I enjoyed every moment of our short Friday-to-Sunday trip in May. We had an ocean view room with a hot tub on the balcony. The room and service exceeded our expectations. On Friday we enjoyed the tub, complimentary tequila and sparkling wine, and room service for dinner. I’d rate the resort 9/10. The food wasn’t as good as I’d like, but I’ll be back many more times knowing it won’t wow me.

Our anniversary stay at Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort left us with serious concerns about management and oversight, and I’ll be contacting Hyatt directly about what happened. We’ve stayed at other Secrets resorts before, but this was by far our worst experience. I regret choosing this location and wouldn’t recommend it. The room we were first given had a strong sewage smell from both the sink and shower. It was uncomfortable even to wash our faces or brush our teeth. A manager checked and acknowledged the odor, but dismissed it as “normal.” We were told we’d have to wait two days to move unless we paid extra for an upgrade. The next room wasn’t much better: blood stains on the sheets, dirty floors, an unclean shower, and ants on the deck, despite being told it had been inspected. We lived out of our suitcases for several days. We weren’t moved to a more suitable suite until day five, after our anniversary was already ruined. One of our belongings, my husband’s expensive electric toothbrush, went missing. When we reported it, staff asked to search through our personal items. That felt invasive and inappropriate, so we declined. Hours later they said it had been “found,” but it looked used when returned. Some of my skincare items also went missing. Management took several days to properly address our concerns. From arrival, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Several staff members seemed standoffish, and it felt like upselling got more attention than genuine hospitality. The beach was poorly maintained and the food didn’t meet expectations. We did meet some nice people, but the service and treatment overall left a very negative impression.
