Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments - All Inclusive

Our group had four rooms at Buenaventura Grand and Great Moments, and the AC worked properly in only one. Staff checked the problems more than once and said they’d come back, but never followed up. Pool service was also extremely poor. Getting a drink or any help often felt impossible. We were told music wasn’t allowed on hotel grounds, while other guests used speakers openly without staff approaching them. There was no genuinely adults-only pool during our stay, despite the hotel advertising one. Children were throughout the pool areas, so the amenity felt misleading. We also felt unwelcome because staff often spoke negatively about foreigners. At the buffet I asked for lemonade and a waiter said he couldn’t get it because the bar line was too long. A few minutes later I saw him bring lemonade to an American couple a few tables away. Things like that made us feel we were treated differently from other guests. I visit Mexico regularly and try to be respectful, patient, and understanding. I’ve stayed at many resorts there and haven’t experienced service this poor, such uneven enforcement of rules, or treatment this unwelcoming. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay, and the staff worked hard to make guests happy from check-in to check-out. A special thanks to Delia at the omelette bar. She always had a big smile, made the best huevos fritas, and was patient while I tried out my little bit of Spanish with her. The hotel should be proud of its staff. It was lovely to find fresh fruit, dessert, and a bottle of champagne in our room when we checked in. We felt recognized as loyal returning customers, even though we don’t belong to the club. I did have a small problem with something I ate, but medication took care of it. Thanks again.

We checked out yesterday after a week here, and the staff made a huge impression on us. From the men at the door and front desk to housekeeping and bartenders, everyone gave brilliant customer service and deserves a raise. The whole hotel is very clean, modern, classy, and beautiful. Staff clearly take pride in keeping it clean, and I loved that it’s non-smoking. Security was alert, checking wristbands to keep random people out and watching the pool. They even whistled when a child tried something dangerous, like jumping off the bridge into the pool. We also saw three whales swimming by. The room key is built into the wristband, which is so convenient. No digging through bags or pockets for a card. I’d never seen a hotel do that before. The food was delicious, with lots of choices and desserts and pastries. We tried the buffet, the pool restaurant, and an à la carte restaurant. The pool restaurant ribs were so good, and the à la carte food was tasty too. The hotel is downtown and an easy walk from the Malecon. Friday’s Mexican night was fantastic, with music, dancing, fireworks, great food, and good performers. I wasn’t as keen on Monday night. The beach setting and performance were great, but the food had run out by the time I reached the front of the line. It wasn’t a big problem since the buffet was open, though I guess they weren’t prepared for such a big crowd. I rate the place 10/10. It was worth every penny and exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely return. It’s my favorite hotel!

The location is a real plus, with a short walk to the Malecon and plenty of great food nearby. Definitely try Pepe’s tacos, and bring cash. We had a good stay overall, and most staff were pleasant, though getting poolside service was often hard. It looked to me like waiters usually checked in with other Mexicans before tourists, even though we tipped each round. The food was decent, better than at other resorts we’ve stayed at, but I got bored with it quickly. Our first room was listed as “deluxe with pool or garden view,” but an AC unit sat directly outside the window. They offered to upgrade us for $900 USD, which would have raised the package cost by 25%. I attached a photo looking from outside at the AC in front of the room. We’d happily return if we could arrange a proper room in advance at the agreed price.
