'The Amaca Hotel in Puerto Vallarta is an exclusive and recently renovated Boutique Hotel located on the hills surrounding Banderas Bay. The hotel rises almost one hundred feet above sea level, offering its guests magnificent views of one of Mexico's prettiest and longest promenades. Our biggest perk is the ability to take a two-block hike from the hotel, walking on stone-paved roads beeming with cozy little restaurants, to stand in front of the magnificence of the Pacific Ocean and its particularly beautiful waters. Our family-owned boutique hotel holds to a traditional Mexican motif without elevators or handicap service ramps. Although we do maintain two suites at the ground level, the remainder of the hotel (including the lobby and pool areas) is only accessible via stairwell. For that reason, we don't recommend Hotel Amaca for our guests with reduced mobility, although we're of course happy to make accommodations as possible. I liked the wooden windows and pretty patio, but all we heard was trucks climbing the hill outside, their mufflers rumbling. The room also felt dirty, with a big hairball in the shower corner and a dark brown, grimy ceiling fan right above the bed. The first morning, hardly any hot water came from the tap, just a little before a gas bubble, then nothing. There’s no elevator, and the stairs have uneven rises, so keep that in mind. I was disappointed with Hotel Amaca and bummed I hadn’t picked one of the many other places in PV. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The front desk staff were so kind and helpful, and the location is close to Zona Romantica while still being on a lovely, quiet street away from most of the noise. It’s a sweet little hotel for the money, with cute, simple, comfortable rooms. I’d stay again.

From the rooftop pool, the sunset view was amazing. The water was a little cool, but the pool was kept very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful the whole time, and housekeeping was on top of things. Each morning we could choose whether to have the room refreshed, and it was done within an hour of putting up the cleaning sign. The hotel is an easy walk to everything, with a convenience store just around the corner and an amazing cafe nearby. I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience city life in Puerto Vallarta.

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and easy to communicate with, and we really appreciated how they accommodated us. The hotel is cute, with nice cold AC, and some rooms have a mini fridge that’s handy for keeping water cold. Ours was a little dirty at check-in, with just a bit of hair in the shower. It’s close to the beach, shops, restaurants, and other spots around town. Good value for the location, and we’d recommend it to friends and consider staying again. Thanks to hotel Amaca for the great service.
