HI Hotel Impala

The breakfast was delicious and just right for me, and everything felt worth it for a short stay. The location in the Historical center is great for walking around, with several convenience stores like Oxxos nearby. Everything was perfect here.

The location is great, but the rest of the stay was a nightmare. The biggest problem was the noise all night. The windows were badly installed and wouldn’t close, the walls were so thin I could hear everything from other rooms, and there was a rooftop bar right above the rooms with very loud music and drunken people. I didn’t get any sleep. The rooms were hot and damp and smelled like an old, dirty sewer. The parking area was tiny, barely big enough for bicycles. Staff were unprofessional and inattentive, and didn’t try to help or guide me during my stay. Do not come here. Look for somewhere else.

We got in around 1:30 a.m. and the staff were somewhat cordial. As I was getting ready to shower, a “cockroach” came out from under the bed. I was exhausted and couldn’t sleep all night. I dealt with it in the morning, and when the woman said they’d fumigate, I refused. There were no rooms left because a soccer tournament was taking place. The shower pressure was very low and there was almost no hot water, so washing my hair took 20 minutes under cold water. Breakfast was cold, and the coffee was lukewarm. The noise from the skylight bar went on until 2 a.m. Don’t stay there!

There were some upsides: free parking inside the hotel, wheelchair-accessible entrance, and a central location about 800 meters from the center. Our room was fairly clean, if not very big. The TV worked, Wi-Fi was free and fast, and the staff were quite helpful and nice. Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 11:00. But we barely slept during our overnight stop, despite having read the noise reviews. The hotel is right by a main street with four-way traffic lights, and the noise lasted into the morning. We had a first-floor room facing the garden and checked out early at 06:30. Music continued past midnight, mixing with the street noise, and the room wasn’t soundproof. We could hear men talking loudly at 03:30.
