Four Points By Sheraton Saltillo

We picked this place because it had a restaurant and room service, but both kitchens were closed when we arrived at 7:30pm on a Sunday. After an eight-hour drive, we had to find food around Saltillo at night, which was rough for two exhausted tourists. The hotel is quiet and the rooms are clean, but it's a long way from restaurants and similar places.

We've stayed here twice while passing through. It's easy to get in and out, and room service was quick with delicious food. There's also a lobby restaurant with good hours. Pets are allowed, but there is a weight limit per room, so check whether you'll need to book a single room. Remodeling was underway, but it didn't affect our stay.

After a full day of travel, this felt like a lovely little oasis. The rooms are spacious and nice, and there are green areas where I could walk my dog. It's pet friendly, and the gated grounds made me feel secure. The full breakfast buffet in the morning was spectacular.

The reception staff were polite and helpful, but they couldn't make up for how bad the stay was. I complained that the air conditioner wasn't working, and about 15 minutes later a man came into my room without knocking. I'm still waiting for my invoice, four days later. I didn't try the restaurant, though it didn't look appealing to me. The room smelled really unhealthy. The shower was cracked all the way through, the carpets were torn in several places, and there was no fridge or microwave. There is a microwave at reception, but by the time I got back upstairs my food was cold. The windows faced a wall, and bugs and flies were all over the room. It was dirty, and things looked like they might fall apart. The pool was constantly being renovated, and you could smell chlorine from far away. With no ashtrays or trash cans outside, the area felt like an open-air dumpster. There weren't any extra amenities. The hotel sits on a very busy road where it's easy to have a car accident. They advertise it as renovated, but only the lobby looked decent. For Mexicans, the price is really high for what you get, and it wasn't worth it. There are many hotels just 10 minutes south that cost only 20/30 dollars more per night and offer unbelievable quality, safety, hygiene, big TVs with working channels, clean beds and floors, no dogs barking outside, and unlimited free bottled water. I wasn't expecting this level of decline from a Sheraton Hotel. I think they should audit it and remove it from the franchise. Really, really, really not advisable. Hopefully things change, because I don't know how they can survive.
