Hotel La Fuente, Saltillo

The place looks great, but the quality falls short. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot, and the room was clean, but the internet was horrible even after I changed rooms. The AC only clicked, and the TV signal was so bad the TV couldn’t be watched. The bathroom screen seemed to cover the window, but there was a visible two-inch gap if you looked closely, and mosquitoes got in and bit me.

I had paid for a reservation, but when I arrived they said there were no rooms. They tried to put me in a room that wasn’t fully functional, and the indoor pool, the main reason I booked, wasn’t working. I ended up paying double at a nearby hotel. I asked when the remodeling would be finished and was told at least a year. The beers in buckets did help calm me down, though. This was on Feb 15, 2020. Please don’t go until they’ve finished fixing the place.

There’s a nice covered pool, crystal clear. This is a sprawling motel on the edge of town, and you can still see hints of the little resort it must once have been. The grounds are large, with a children’s play park and tennis court, though unfortunately they’ve fallen into disuse.

The beds are comfortable, the Wi-Fi is decent, and the place is very clean. It even smells like a hospital, which reassured me during the pandemic. The towels are really old, though, and in standard rooms you can hear a bit through the walls if the neighbors are loud. That only bothered me because it was Valentine’s Day, lol. It’s good for a night or two, and I’d definitely come back for a quick visit. The directions take you to the wrong entrance. It’s on the same road, not the squiggly road the directions suggest, but there’s a huge sign, so you can’t miss it.
