The kitchen came in handy, and the shared bathroom was cleaned by the staff after each use. Water pressure was good, and after a few minutes the hot water stayed steady, which mattered a lot. I felt the stay was good value. My room was clean and cozy when I arrived and stayed that way throughout, and the staff were kind and accommodating. They also gave me useful advice for planning my time in San Cris and the surrounding area. When I mentioned the cold mornings, they brought me extra blankets. Obviously the hotel can’t control the climate, especially after what we’ve done to the planet. Thanks for a really nice stay, Casa Azabache.

We’d be glad to come back. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the mattress was comfortable. Everyone on staff was kind and accommodating too. We needed to iron some things, and they let us use their iron. Big hello to Samuel!

The tour packages are priced competitively, but I wouldn’t take one again. We spent too much time waiting, the schedule wasn’t kept, and a broken van caused more delays. To be fair, we did get a refund. The place is well located, the people are friendly, and the price is good. As for the advertised “suite,” it’s really more like an attic room with a sloping ceiling. Tall people will bump their heads. Maybe the regular rooms are better.

The garden hammocks are a lovely place to unwind, and the rooms and common areas were very clean. The location is perfect and the staff are friendly. Samuel helped arrange a few things for our crossing into Guatemala. He’s the best!
