Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

Our three daughters, ages 9, 7, and 4, loved the explorer's club, especially the 4-year-old who wanted to be there constantly. The older two went a few times for the beach camping night, bungee trampoline, face painting, and master chef challenges. Pao, Andy, Tomy, Sandy and Clau were so kind and made the week special for the girls. The E-team, Miguel at the buffet, Aldo at the barefoor grill, and Nicko at Portofino were also excellent, and truly all the staff were friendly and amazing. We had a wonderful family vacation at Dreams Los Cabos. The resort is beautiful, the beach clean, and we enjoyed walking along it every day. We also went horseback riding on the beach. The food was good. Our rooms were a little dated, but it didn't bother us. Chileno beach was a lovely place to swim and snorkel, just a six-minute drive away. The pool depth was awkward for me at 5"4, so I had to tiptoe across with my drink. Dinner was another challenge. There's no dinner buffet, only sit-down restaurants, and this was the first time in my six stays with this brand, at Dreams or Secrets, that we had to wait a while. The hotel may have been at capacity, and a few large groups might have contributed to the wait. Still, we had a wonderful week.

Compared with the one other all-inclusive I've visited, in Cancun, the room here worked well for me. I set the thermostat to 22.5 and the floor and room got cool enough. I paid an extra $80 for an ocean-view room for three nights and was satisfied. Service was generally good too. Nicko at Portofino was terrific, and the kids' menu chicken was juicy, not dry. Staff were usually helpful with directions and transportation questions, even for public transit where they didn't make money. My biggest frustration was the restaurant situation on our last night. Only Portofino and Bordeaux were open. Bordeaux didn't allow children and required formal wear. Portofino was more flexible but said open-toe shoes weren't allowed. I paid 2k+ for a three-day resort stay and didn't expect every available restaurant to require dressing up instead of letting me wear flip-flops, as I normally do at Italian and French restaurants in NYC. I'm the customer. Drinks were fine if I avoided cocktails, which were too sweet or watered down. I also found the food selection a bit limited compared with the other resort. The juices were watered down and sugary, as expected, but how can a resort in Mexico not have horchata?

Getting around was easy with two kids because this resort is on the smaller side, so we could reach everything within a couple of minutes. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the staff were kind, helpful, and friendly throughout. The food was outstanding, some of the best we've had at a resort in more than 20 years of traveling. The restaurants exceeded our expectations. Our only real downside was the room: it needed updating and more attention to detail, with some stains and marks on the walls and furniture fabric. We booked an ocean-view one-bedroom family suite, but the ocean was visible only in the distance, not what we'd call a true ocean view. For families hoping to eat at a reasonable time, line up before the restaurants open. Arriving around 5:00-5:15 pm got us seated at a good time. One evening we arrived at 6:30 pm and waited over two hours for the Italian restaurant, something to plan around with kids. We recently had a wonderful stay at Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa and would recommend it, especially to families wanting an easy, relaxing getaway with great food and service.

We stayed six nights with my family and booked two rooms. The pool was great, and we loved the food, especially at the steakhouse and Italian restaurant. We also got to try the French restaurant on our last day, a lovely way to finish the trip. The coffee shop was a favorite, and the drinks were very good. My only small suggestion is to offer better sandwiches. Overall, it was a relaxing stay at a great family-friendly resort.
