Flamboyan Hotel & Residences

We got around town on the e-bikes, which we really appreciated. There are usually two in the lobby, though apparently ten altogether. The room was comfortable and the bed super comfy. The rooftop pool was great too, with heated water, plenty of loungers and umbrellas, plus cabana beds.

The rooftop is fantastic, and the location makes it easy to get around San Jose. We’ll definitely stay here again. We expected a lot of noise after reading reviews, but it wasn’t bad for us. We could hear live music in the square, though it quieted down around 10 p.m. or soon after. Noise probably depends on which side your room faces. Our room felt a little small, probably because we’d stayed in larger rooms earlier in the trip. It was nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The kitchen setup had a microwave, range, dishes, pots, utensils, and a refrigerator. We liked having the fridge, but didn’t use the other items.

Great location, good price, lovely room, a good bed, and a very nice rooftop pool area. There was lots of storage for unpacking too. But this was one of our ten worst nights of sleep, even with earplugs and an eye mask. With the windows shut against the noise and the air conditioning on, it was a toss-up which was louder. Our room averaged 70 decibels, day and night.

I love this hotel and we come because we travel with dogs, but what happened? This time I was told it would cost an extra $150 per dog, which had never happened before. The woman at the desk was sharp and talked over me. After a 20-hour trip, I wasn’t up for that. She eventually gave it to me for $70, but the policies should be posted. The best part was being told that if I didn’t like it, I could go somewhere else. Ten minutes earlier I’d asked if I could get my money back and was told no. Make up your mind.
