The rooms and grounds were beautiful and clean, and this has been my favorite of the all inclusives I've stayed at. My 86 year old grandma came with us, and getting around was easy with no mobility or accessibility problems. It's also a quick walk across the street to shops and supermarkets for Mexican snacks to take home. There was plenty for the kids, from the fun waterpark to the pool games and live shows. The sports bar was enjoyable, with big screens and pool tables, and minors could stay until 10:30. The pools had no big drink lines, and the all inclusive drinks were high quality. Food was amazing, with different menus and delicious, distinctive dishes at each restaurant. Poolside tacos were the best, and I tried a new one every day. The pool restaurant's smash burgers were perfect too. Breakfast was great each day, with stations for omelettes, smoothies, and quesadillas, plus delicious speciality coffees. The coffee shop stays open 24/7 and has snacks as well. The people made a big difference. Margarita was a wonderful breakfast hostess. Pedro was the best bartender ever, with amazing pool drinks and service. My kids loved him and looked forward to the swim up bar each day. Alex at the pool bar and water park was friendly, attentive, and gave great service. Bryant was our favorite waiter, and Christian took great care of us at checkout. Yesenia around the pool was lovely too. A really lovely stay. I'd come back and recommend it! 💛 🇲🇽

The hotel handled our very large group amazingly well. We had booked Jamaica, but the hurricane changed our plans, and the staff here still gave us top notch service throughout the week. We had an amazing time, saw lots of whales every single day, and never had a bad meal. Thank you, truly!

The location was a highlight for us: about 1.5 miles from San Jose and the artwalk, which was top notch. Across the street you can swim with dolphins, and there's 24/7 security. The beachfront is great, and the water was swimmable for a few days during our 10 day visit. Vendors were friendly. We had four beautiful top floor rooms in the recently redone deluxe oceanfront wing, with lovely views of the beach. The rooms and bathrooms were stellar, the beds comfortable, and the towels nice and large. One bathroom had one of the nicest, biggest layouts I've seen, with a great mirror that also worked as a night light for my kids. There were four or more pool options and a stellar kids water park. Don't sleep on the kids chicken tendies at lunch. The alcohol selection was good compared with other all inclusive resorts. Food choices were plentiful, and we especially liked the Mexican and Italian restaurants. The pizza was so good I'd order it near home. We never waited for dinner except one night. The challenge was that food couldn't be ordered to go, which was sometimes difficult with my kids. Some employees were among the best I've met at a hotel: Mario, the Mexican restaurant manager, and Daniel, his star employee, were absolute rockstars. But the service was uneven. Housekeeping sometimes hadn't cleaned our room by 4 p.m., so I had to call for an update. Over the 10 days, the mini fridge was never refilled and snacks weren't replenished. Staff seemed confused when I called, and one blanket took over 90 minutes to arrive. The kids' pull out couch was so uncomfortable that we had to ask for several toppers to make it sleepable. Pool service was a real low point. Most of the staff seemed unfriendly and focused on tips, with the kids pool as the one exception. Servers seemed annoyed when we weren't ordering many drinks, since that meant smaller tips. The pool chair system is broken: arrive before 10 a.m. and your things may be moved to lost and found, leaving you without a chair. Many chairs can't really be moved, so you end up in full sun or shade, and the cabanas and in water chairs cost around $179 per day. Around 1 p.m. every day, chairs were removed for private events, which seemed absurd given what guests pay, especially during Feb break. Why not rent out the whole hotel for a private event, or avoid allowing one then? The stay had a sharp split between staff who were amazing and friendly and those who were nasty, with little in between. Across the street there are good options, and I'd love to see pizza offered to go from the Italian restaurant and better kids' choices at each spot. Some of those selections were just weird, haha. We've been to Cabo several times, but this was our first stay here. There were more positives than negatives, and I think we'd return.

We had a spacious room and a very comfortable bed, and the balcony looked over the main pool and ocean. It was lovely for watching pool events and keeping an eye out for whales. Most of the food was great, though I'd have liked more lunch choices. The Indian restaurant was especially yummy. Service was incredible, with everyone friendly and very attentive. We had an amazing four night stay at the Hyatt ziva Cabo. I'd definitely recommend it and hope to return!
