Hotel Feregrino

The rooms were clean and cozy, and breakfast was good, with fresh ingredients and quite an international selection. It's a small hotel, which I actually prefer. The main drawback is that there aren't enough garage parking spaces for all the rooms. It's a good budget option, about 800m from downtown.

The place is clean and well kept, and the hotel itself is fine. But traffic noise comes through into the room pretty strongly. I should have looked at other places near Centro Histórico, where many hotels have restaurants and include breakfast.

The rooms are big and the bed is good. It's a quiet, cozy, beautiful little hotel near Bernal, Querétaro, right on the road and not far from downtown. Breakfast is included, though there's not much variety. A solid choice.

Once you're inside, there's a garden and a nice brick staircase, despite the plain-looking exterior. The compact property has several little spots to explore: a small tower reached by some uneven, quirky steps, a garden with Halloween pumpkins, a "Días de los muertos" altar for Maria Felix, a pretty sculpted glass window, and a couple of rooftop photo spots overlooking the area. Don't let the outside put you off. The rooms are on the small side but perfectly adequate, with cable TV. The bathroom looked more modern than I expected and had a hair dryer plus shampoo and cream dispensers. Breakfast is included. Nothing fancy, just eggs, beans, fruit, coffee, chilaquiles, hot cakes, cereal and yoguy, but it was tasty and plentiful. The only downside was that the WiFi wasn't open for general use. There are larger, prettier hotels around, but for the price this is a great option.
