Hotel Misión San Gil

The service and restaurant were very good, and the people were nice. The property has lots of space for playing and parks, with really nice architecture. But the rooms disappointed me. It was very cold, and neither the AC nor the heater worked. The bathroom was in really bad shape and needed maintenance. The pool was cold too, with no heater.

There's not much to walk to outside the hotel, but it sits right off the highway, which is super convenient if you just need somewhere to sleep after day trips around the area. For the price and what you get, I'd recommend it. Check-in and checkout were easy, and it was very clean. The hotel is huge, with lots of open areas, a pool, tennis court, restaurant, halls, and even peacocks. The grounds are really pretty, and the restaurant food is very yummy. They have buffet on certain days, and on Sunday it's a full-service buffet with mimosas. The waiters and other workers were all very kind. The rooms are pretty basic, nothing special unless you get one with a little patio or deck with chairs and an enclosed yard. I think one of our other rooms had a hot tub. For the restaurant, bring cash or a card connected to a Mexico bank. At least when we were there, they didn't take foreign credit or debit cards.

I hated my first business stay here, and the second one was just as bad. Check-in is one of the worst processes I've experienced. They make you fill in an unnecessary online document even if you've booked through a third party. The internet is poor and the wifi keeps disconnecting, so working is impossible. The restaurant food was overpriced and tasted poor. It was hard to get the staff's attention, and I didn't know whether to stand by the door for another 15 minutes or just sit down. The rooms haven't been modernized. The AC looks like it has never been cleaned and may have mold. The shower heads and faucets seem decades old, and the water barely comes out in the right direction. I'd come back for an event or to see the large, beautiful garden, but I won't stay here or spend my money at this establishment.

I was here for a wedding at a nearby hotel, and the location worked well. The rooms were clean and nice, though the mattress and bathroom felt and looked a little old. The lobby employees didn't know the places around, including the church I was trying to find, even though it was a 5-minute walk away. Better ask the bellboy.
