City Express by Marriott San Luis Potosi Zona Universitaria

The room got too hot at night, around 26°C, and I couldn't adjust the air conditioner myself. I had to ask reception to lower the setting, and there are no windows you can open. Still, I had a lovely stay. The staff were helpful, the atmosphere relaxed, and breakfast had a nice selection. There was also a free evening snack in the lobby with tequila, plus coffee and tea available all the time, including a good espresso option near the Americano. I liked that the plates and cutlery were made from corn. The bus stops are close, and the neighborhood felt safe for walking and shopping. I'd recommend it.

The room was clean, the staff pleasant, and the hotel sits in the University district with shopping nearby and controlled access parking. But I couldn't get a decent night's sleep. The split air conditioner whined and buzzed all night, and a loud, low mechanical hum was audible almost a block away at the Oxxo. If quiet sleep matters to you, you may want to stay elsewhere until the issue is resolved. I don't usually write negative reviews and would normally just reflect it in the star rating, but I needed to be rested for an early start on a full day's drive. This City Express also wasn't as nice as the previous one we'd stayed at.

The location is well connected, and the rooms make efficient use of their space. Service was good, and breakfast was good too.

It doesn't look like much from outside, but the hotel is clean and the staff are polite and quite nice. It's not a trendy place, but it's a solid option for a stay, about what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express.
