Esencia Oaxaca

The shared kitchen was a nice extra, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to sort things out. During my stay, there was a night without water, another without hot water, and the toilet stopped working once. They fixed those problems promptly, though the water pressure in the rooms stayed low and could be inconvenient. Esencia Oaxaca is tucked off the main streets, so it’s peaceful while still close to the city center. The hotel is well maintained and affordable, making it a good value if water issues aren’t a dealbreaker. I’d recommend it.

The self check-in was handy, and we could walk to plenty of restaurants. For our one night on the way to the west coast, it was good enough. The room was small and dimmer than the photos made it look, and the water pressure was basically nonexistent, so don’t count on a decent shower. Cheap hotel, and you get what you pay for.

A very clean room and a shared kitchen with all the equipment we needed. The shower was hot, with good pressure, and they provide body wash and shampoo. It’s near restaurants, breweries, and everything in Centro. When you arrive, look for the building marked Macondo with the large metal 603 numbers. We went to the neighbor’s house by mistake, since it also has the address 603.

The room looks nice, but the walls seem so thin you can hear everything next door. I could even make out someone talking on the phone. If you’re unlucky like I was, the noise can keep you from sleeping. The toilet had an issue from the first day, though they fixed it when I asked.
