Posada de los Angeles

The neighborhood felt quite safe, and our room was spacious with a comfortable bed. But the heat was hard to deal with: the low windows only open a little at the bottom, there’s no AC, and the fixed fan wasn’t enough to cool the room. Noise was the main problem. Huge trucks and loud motorbikes used the nearby busy street day and night, and the rooms also let sound through from inside the building. When the neighbors watched TV, we could hear it as if we were watching along. Communication was nearly impossible because the staff didn’t speak English. The payment arrangements were confusing too. We weren’t asked to pay until our last day, and then had to look around for someone who would take responsibility for collecting the money. With sleep barely possible, we can’t recommend staying here.

The front garden has a magical feel, and the Posada itself is lovely and charming. Our room was clean and well appointed, and the staff were very accommodating. There’s an OXXO, a fabulous bakery, a cafe, and other services just a two-minute walk away. I’ll definitely come back.

From our second-floor room, we could see the mountains, and there was a little patio out front. The place is small and secure, with an easy walk to el Centro. My room was comfortable and had everything I wanted and needed.

The jazzercize class next door was incredibly loud, only about 10 feet from my room, and woke me every morning at 7, even on weekends. I can sleep through a lot, but not that. I think I was the only guest while I was there, which made the place feel lonely and a little unsafe.
