Antigua Capilla B&B

The sunsets from Antigua Capilla are next level, with amazing views over the city. It's a serene place, and the rooms are nicely appointed, offering a relaxing retreat. The property is spotless and well maintained, and the staff are friendly, accommodating, and provide top-notch service. It's conveniently located 10 minutes from San Miguel de Allende's historic center. I won't consider staying anywhere else on future visits!

The courtyard is gorgeous, with an historic Capilla, a fountain, lush plants and flowers, and hummingbirds. All ten rooms look out onto it, while the rooftop terrace offers unforgettable sunsets over San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. Antonieta and Francisco designed and built this spectacular hillside B&B overlooking the city. Every room has beautiful details, from native Mexican rugs and lots of tiles to coffered ceilings, art, and sculptures. The beds and linens are excellent, the staff attentive and friendly, and the whole place is lovely. Breakfast starts with excellent fresh fruit, yogurt, and delicious homemade granola, followed each day by a different egg dish cooked to order. Antonieta and/or Francisco join guests each morning and are happy to share ideas about the city, local attractions and history, and practical things like finding ATMs or dinner restaurants. We'd return to Antigua Capilla in a heartbeat.

The rooftop views are gorgeous, and breakfast was filling and delicious. It’s tucked beside a quiet alley but still an easy walk to everything. The owners clearly care a lot about the place, from the local art and lovely plants to making sure guests feel comfortable. They also know the city well, and their restaurant suggestions were right on. I’d absolutely stay again. If they’d let me, I’d move in!

The best part for us was meeting other people staying at Antigua Capilla. We got chatting over breakfast, then ended up exploring town, eating, and heading out on adventures together. We’re even planning to meet two of them back in the States. Antonieta and Francisco made Antigua Capilla feel like more than somewhere to sleep. The rooms, rooftop deck, and shared spaces have thoughtful details and a warm, homey feel. Breakfast was scrumptious, and their help with all our travel questions made it easy to get started and enjoy SMA. I’m a pretty tough reviewer and rarely give five stars, but this stay gets a 10+ from me.
