Cuna del Cielo

With just four guest rooms, this beautiful boutique hotel has a peaceful, Zen-like feel. It sits high above Zona Centro, so the view is lovely and the nights are quiet and full of stars. Walking down is a nice way to see the nearby neighborhoods, and the walk back up is good exercise after a big dinner. Our room was spacious, bright, quiet, and beautiful, with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. Victor, the owner and host, communicates well and is interesting to talk with. His focus on health comes through in the comfortable spaces, the food, and the different healing options, including an infrared sauna, jacuzzi, steam 'box', hand and foot massage machines, and services available on request. Highly recommend.

Cuna del Cielo is a wonderful base for exploring San Miguel de Allende, or for a longer creative retreat. It’s within walking distance of the center, though the walk back uphill led me to take an Uber up and walk down. The route is enjoyable, with beautiful houses and plants in the neighborhood. Nearby, the cafe Geek and Coffee sits in another natural reserve with a stream, a duck lake, and a gallery compound. I only got a small taste of San Miguel de Allende on this trip, but I highly recommend both the town and Cuna del Cielo. The villas are built around little water features, including ponds and a waterfall that flow into a swimming fish pond overlooking the town. The whole property feels thoughtfully designed, and the shared living areas have wide views of the mountains, a distant lake, and town. The sunsets are especially striking. My room looked out toward the adjacent Botanical reserve and had Japanese calligraphy paintings, an antique rug, and outdoor lounge chairs. It also had soft sheets, woollen blankets, a fleece bathrobe, a gas heater, and a desk. The bathroom gets light from a skylight and has a Japanese tub and rain shower. The whole villa felt suited to wellness, quiet, and silent meditation.

My sister and I came to Cuna del Cielo for a family wedding, and staying there was pure bliss. The pictures capture how beautiful it is, but being there was something else. We had the World Loft, which felt luxurious, with wonderful views, lots of space, and real comfort. The common areas were just as spectacular. We loved having our own privacy while still feeling part of a community. Viktor designed and built the villas with such care that we felt at home and could really be present during our stay. The breakfast, juice, tea, and coffee were some of the best we’ve ever had. Yogurt and granola are staples, and the yogurt was so good that it’s hard to enjoy it back home now. Fabi prepared the meals, which were delicious, and she was kind and happy to help. We were glad we booked an in-room massage on our last day. The location worked very well for us, and we didn’t mind the uphill walk back. We enjoyed walking to and from el Centro. We’re so grateful to Viktor, Fabi, and the team for making this such a memorable, luxurious stay. We hope to return soon and highly recommend it.

The open space and fresh air made the property feel like a sanctuary, a real break from everyday life. The practitioners Viktor works with were knowledgeable and caring, and I appreciated how attentive they were. Viktor and all his staff made me feel welcome and looked after from the moment I arrived. I’m especially grateful for his presence and the thoughtful way he adapts his care to each guest’s needs. It made the stay feel personal and meaningful. I also loved meeting Fabi and Estella, whose warmth lifted an already beautiful place. I left feeling refreshed, supported, and deeply grateful for the experience.
