Hotel Maria Bonita

The staff are what make this hotel stand out. Everyone greeted us with a smile and was ready to help with whatever we needed. They went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional.

On my last night at Hotel María Bonita, from July 22nd to 23rd, a man began beating his wife and daughters in their room. It was upsetting for me and the other guests. We called the police, but they took no action and did not arrest him because his wife asked not to be helped. After they left, he kept hurting his family. I stepped in to stop him from harming the girls and asked the hotel to help stop what was happening and call the authorities again. The hotel’s response was cold. They refused to get involved, saying domestic violence was a family matter. I believe they should have helped put an end to it. If I could intervene as a guest, the hotel could have done more for those women. This was the worst experience I’ve had in a hotel in Mexico, and I was deeply disappointed by the staff’s response to this injustice.

We booked through Airbnb, and the place looked old and poorly maintained, nothing like the photos. I’d give it three stars, but the false impression about hotel parking is why I’m giving two. There was no valet when we arrived, and other customers had to wait 30 minutes for their cars. We asked for the parking lot address so we wouldn’t leave the car on the street, but staff didn’t know where the cars were taken. It took 15 minutes to get the information about where to leave ours. The host team should know this or answer more politely.

The room was noisy enough that I could hear the next room’s entire conversation. Water pressure was very low, and the lights kept going off. I contacted the front desk, but they offered no solution.
