The pool was a nice place to spend time, with music and a bar serving drinks and snacks. A little table by each sunbed would’ve been useful. They also have billiards near the hotel bar, which was a fun extra. Our room was spacious and clean, but the first one had a strong damp, moldy smell. The staff moved us to a fresh room quickly, with no hassle, and we appreciated that. Hotel Real de Minas was comfortable and practical for a short city stay. Just don’t expect luxury or arrive with high expectations.

You can walk to the main tourist attractions in just a few steps, and the hotel has a lot of historical character and charm. The building and its heritage give the place an authentic feel. The upkeep is disappointing, though. Some areas look worn, and the property needs renovation and more attention to detail to make for a comfortable stay. With better care, it could be outstanding. As it is, the location and historic beauty are there, but the overall quality falls short.

We couldn’t check in about an hour before the official time, even though our room was ready. The policy felt rigid for no good reason. There wasn’t even a coffee maker in the room, and complimentary coffee in the lobby would have been a considerate touch. The room looked dated, and the bathtub was clogged. Those things made the stay disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We were a couple staying for one night, and the hotel and room seemed decent. Then we got back from town around 11 pm and found a big party or wedding right outside our room. No one had mentioned it at check-in. We tried to put up with it, but by 12:30 am we called reception and were told it would finish by 1. It actually went on until around 1:30, and we didn’t sleep that night. In the morning, two reception clerks seemed lost and couldn’t reach their boss. I left my email and asked for an explanation and some reimbursement. They never replied or apologized. They just don’t care.

From our arrival to our departure two days later, everyone on staff was courteous and incredibly helpful. They really went out of their way for us. Thank you so much! The whole hotel team is super 👌 👍
