Caribo Cozumel

We had such a sweet stay. The private room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were quick to respond. It felt more like an old-fashioned guest house than a hotel, and we were made to feel like part of a family. It's reasonably priced and conveniently located, within walking distance of the noise but quiet itself. The kitchen was well stocked with care, and warm hospitality clearly matters here. We spent four nights at Caribo in March 2025 while traveling through Central America as a British couple in our late twenties. The owners and staff were friendly, and the guesthouse was clean, quiet, and felt safe. Our large private double room had a kitchenette and en suite, so it worked almost like a self-contained little studio. There's a small dipping pool too. The walk into town takes about 15 minutes, with a supermarket and launderette only 5-10 minutes away. It was a bit farther from town than ideal, but a very peaceful place to sleep and rest. We'd recommend it.

The little dipping pool was a lovely, calming spot, and the back area has hammocks and a table. The kitchen was better than it looked in the photos, and everything was very clean. I stayed in a private room at Caribo Cozumel for two days of snorkeling. It was affordable, and the staff were really kind and friendly. I didn't find many restaurants nearby, despite what some other reviews said. I passed a few closed places before eventually finding a delicious Venezuelan restaurant. A thicker blanket would have been nice, and it would be helpful to have milk or creamer for the complimentary coffee and a way to heat water for the tea bags. Still, it was a lovely place to stay 😌

My room had no proper windows or airflow, and it smelled strongly of what seemed like mold or mildew. When I told the American 🇺🇸 owner, she complained about tourists being too needy. I was taken aback. After that, the condition of the place and the attitude made me feel I was paying too much.
